When it comes to scenic sea locations and curious palates, Fisherman’s Seafood & Grill sweeps ahead on TripAdvisor, ranking at number 1 amongst 41 restaurants in Nungwi and 3rd across all restaurants in Zanzibar.
Nestled on the northern tip of Zanzibar, the restaurant offers a variety of authentic dishes from various cuisines from all over the world. Each guest has a story to tell on their experiences, taking our imagination on a ride to this beautiful beach overlooking the turquoise Indian Ocean with a perfect blend of cuisines of international standard, mouth-watering seafood options, cocktails shaken to perfection, and several signature platters.
After hearing about their ranking across Nungwi, with so many amazing guest reviews we were curious to know the ‘recipe for success’. So, we got hold of the General Manager, Sheriff Afifi and asked a few questions:
How long have you been number 1 in Nungwi and what steps did you and your team take?
‘‘We took this restaurant from the bottom of the ranking list about 4 years ago and worked our way up, which took a lot of dedication from our team, paying attention to detail and trying to go the extra mile for the customer. We have ranked number 1 in Nungwi for over 18 months and our aim is to reach the top of the Zanzibar ranking. We are always looking to update our menus to suit our clientele tastes and change our menu every six months. Every item is carefully selected, and we always aim for several signature platters that guests wouldn’t find anywhere else.”
What else contributes to guest satisfaction apart from serving the finest cuisines?
“Unlike many restaurants in the north, Fisherman’s Seafood & Grill is one of the few places that welcomes non-resident guests to indulge in a true fine dining experience. Currently, over half of our guests are non-residents who will take a taxi for up to 2 hours to get here for a meal.
The bar section offers a diversified menu of drinks and 2 big screens for guests to follow their favourite sports events, and the only place in Nungwi with an authentic Arabic shisha corner.
Fisherman’s Grill has hosted several dream weddings, proposals, birthdays, and many other special events. We are child-friendly, cater for all dietary needs and this is simply the ideal dining spot for everyone.”
We have also heard that the evenings have a real party vibe – so when you visit do save some energy for when the DJs take to the decks.
