The 4C Community Raises Over £1200 For Macmillan Cancer Support

16 November 2021

As a community-minded group, 4C Hotel Group is passionate about giving back to important causes.

Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity close to our hearts: the work they do has affected many of our lives directly, and we are always looking for ways we can support them. In the last month, our team members have undertaken two events for the charity – raising a total of more than £1200.

We are delighted as we know that these funds can be utilised in number of ways including, running forums that support those affected by cancer, paying for carers that can support those living with cancer and their families as well as enable them to spend quality time together and more.

Coffee Morning Captures the Community Spirit

What a spread – from the team at Canopy London City

Traditionally, 4C Hotel Group, has hosted these Coffee Mornings across the group each year . However, due to the pandemic, this was the first time the group could run the event since 2019. Fortunately, the community spirit has only increased since the pandemic.

A number of committed team members baked cakes, pastries and muffins – with a range of diet-specific options, such as gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan. The result was a beautiful spread that kept a smile on everyone’s face – even when things got a little…weird.

Run For Your Life

Whilst community events are vital in spreading awareness and establishing support, it is also important to recognise outstanding individual contributions.

A perfect example is Christian Oliver. After multiple pandemic-related postponements, he finally completed the Brighton Half Marathon on Sunday 10th October – once again, in support of Macmillan.

Christian is HR Director at Canopy London City and a passionate supporter of the vital work the charity does for our communities. The race is 21km – so he really must be committed!

Thanks to a series of generous donations, Christian even managed to beat his fundraising target, collecting a total of £310 through his JustGiving page

Upon finishing, he had this to say: “I did it! I want to say a massive thank you to every person who donated, and for all the amazing support you’ve given – both to me and Macmillan!”

We are so very proud of Christian and want to congratulate him once again on this incredible achievement.
